Message from the LMSC Coordinator

That’s where the library steps in as a vital partner in academic success. Objectives of LMSC
- Collect a diverse collection of materials that meets the evolving needs of students and faculty.
- Ensure easy access to library resources, both physical and digital, for all users.
- Organize workshops and events that foster a love for learning and encourage research skills.
- Provide personalized assistance and guidance to help students navigate their academic journeys.
- Regularly assess and update library services to enhance the overall user experience.
Members
The coordinator of the LMC shall be member of board of directors or Program Director. The member includes Librarian, Library Expert, Members of Board of Directors, Faculty, Students and Staff. The member shall be inclusive of gender, ethnicity and wider-college community.
Terms of Responsibility
- Create a yearly calendar outlining library hours during teaching days, holidays, and exam periods.
- Gather book requests from students, staff, and faculty to better meet their needs.
- Take charge of the annual procurement process for acquiring new books.
- Prioritize the purchase of reference books, journals, and special editions.
- Work with the Procurement and Finance Committee to secure at least 1.5% of the total operating budget for the library.
- Organize and oversee the management of all library books and materials.
- Create a professional development plan to enhance the skills of library staff.
- Facilitate the organization of the library into different departments within the college’s organogram.
- Ensure library staff have access to necessary training and mentorship opportunities.
- Install essential automated systems in the library promptly.
- Improve the quality of filing racks, seating arrangements, and overall library space.
- Build connections with other college and university libraries to share and loan materials.
- Showcase library services and catalogs for easy access by visitors.
- Ensure infrastructure and reading areas are available for at least one class at a time.
- Position the library as a central hub of knowledge for the college.
- Schedule one library session per week for each class in the college timetable.
- Provide circulation, book maintenance, reference services, photocopying, printing, scanning, internet access, e-library resources, and power backup.
- Keep detailed records of book checkouts, visitor logs, online resource access, new purchases, and any damages or losses.
- Document meeting minutes in a dedicated minutes book for reference.
